BENEFIT CARD CORNER
Can I use my benefit card to purchase over-the-counter medicines?
You can, but keep in mind that special IRS rules apply to over-the-counter (OTC) medicines and drugs. OTC medicines require a written or electronic doctor’s prescription to be an eligible health FSA expense.
When purchasing OTC medicines, you may use your card only if you present the OTC prescription to a pharmacist and it’s assigned an Rx number — just like having a prescription filled. Learn more …

TIPS FOR TIRED AND HURTING EYES
Do you suffer from recurring headaches, a pinched neck, backaches, or wrist pain? What about eyestrain, burning or tired eyes, blurred vision, or double vision? If you use computers or mobile devices for hours on end, those electronics may be the reason for your aches and pains.
According to the American Optometric Association (AOA), overuse of computers and mobile devices can lead to a condition called "computer vision syndrome" (CVS) by causing a person to look straight ahead or down for lengthy periods, and to blink less often. Plus, using technology requires certain vision skills, which add further demands to the visual system and contribute to eye and vision distress.
Try to avoid CVS by following the 20-20-20 rule. When using technology:
  • Take a 20-second break,
  • Every 20 minutes,
  • And view something 20 feet away.
If problems persist, be sure to talk to your doctor.
In addition, it’s important to visit an eye doctor each year for an eye checkup. Your health FSA funds are good toward many eligible vision expenses, like eye exams, eyeglasses, contacts, and cleaning solutions.
